Originally developed as an insulating last line of defence for hard, Alpine style climbing at altitude, the K7 has seen use on everything from Denali’s ultra-committing hard test piece, the Slovak Direct, to a Piolet d’Or winning first ascent of Nyainqentanglha’s South East Face in Tibet. It’s quickly gone on to become a much more widely used down jacket, a popular choice everywhere from the 6000m trekking peaks of Nepal to Aconcagua and Polar regions. The characteristics that see it relied on by those at the leading edge of mountaineering just as relevant if you’re planning your first more remote expedition.
The K7 Men’s Jacket uses 300g of our finest Goose Down and this gives the maximum insulation thanks to a full box wall construction that eliminates cold spots. Each baffle is filled and sized to give the best performance across the jacket and ensure full loft. Our elasticated EXL system in the back of the jacket helps this further, adding no weight it gently hugs the user to dramatically reduce dead space between layers and greatly reduce compression of the down. EXL continues into the ultra-protective hood where it not only increases warmth but also helps to accommodate a helmet or other layer with the minimum of adjustment in conditions well below zero.
The Drilite Ⓡ Loft outer shell is completely windproof and highly weather resistant whilst still sufficiently breathable to prevent moisture build up during sustained use.
